This training provides a comprehensive overview of the legal and procedural frameworks that govern both domestic and international extraditions. Designed for prosecutors, law enforcement personnel, and agency partners, the session will offer practical insights into the collaborative process of securing the return of fugitives.

Key topics will include:

• Interstate extradition procedures (including: Writs, IADs, Governor’s Warrants, etc.)
• Legal requirements and documentation
• The role of the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of International Affairs (OIA) in international cases
• Extradition treaty obligations and processes
• Common legal challenges and how to address them
• Best practices for preparing and managing extradition requests
• Warrants - accuracy and court expectations

Participants will leave with a clearer understanding of the roles and responsibilities across agencies and jurisdictions, as well as the tools needed to navigate both routine and complex extradition matters.
